Leadership development is at the core of the D-PREP curriculum. While many people see leadership as simply making decisions, we know it’s so much more than that. At our school, we learn leadership by putting it to practice, like taking the initiative to serve on the Student Leadership Team.
In the past, a single council took on this important function, but as the school expanded, leadership naturally evolved into five specialized teams. Now, each group has a chairperson and a team of student leaders, who are all overseen by the Student Body President and Vice President. Together, they leverage their strengths to serve others and create a better experience for everyone in school.
Here are our councils for this school year:
STUDENT COUNCIL

The Student Council embodies the spirit of our school. Their main role is to focus on student life by organizing dynamic events that bring the community together. Before the leadership program expanded, this was the primary team responsible for most student-led activities in secondary school.
They lead major events like Open World and Theme Week, taking charge of planning, managing logistics, coordinating people, and overseeing budgets and resources. They excel at seeing the big picture and mastering the details to make sure everything runs smoothly. This year, they aim to connect more students and take on even bigger projects to build a more united community.
SERVICE COUNCIL

The Service Council is all about helping others. As the stewards of the school, they lead projects that make a real difference in our wider community. They have built strong ties with local schools and organizations, especially through education-focused outreach.
Their history includes organizing Service-Learning Week and Expeditions, where students volunteer at different sites, from retirement homes and NGOs for animal care to collaborating with other councils on environmental cleanup work. The council’s current goal is to expand its impact by partnering with more local schools and empowering more students to step into roles of service.
STEAM LEADERSHIP

The STEAM Leaders are innovators in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Their role is to challenge students to explore, think critically, and turn their knowledge into creative solutions.
They have propelled fellow students into academic competitions, while also leading by example by joining contests themselves. Looking ahead, their vision is to expand the school’s representation in a wider range of activities, motivating more students to push the boundaries of knowledge and become discoverers and innovators in their fields.
AMBASSADORS

The Ambassadors are the official representatives of our community. They are the first faces visitors see and the ones who make a lasting impression that truly reflects our school’s unique character and offerings.
This council is primarily in charge of welcoming prospective students and their families, serving as tour guides, and running the student buddy system. With strong people skills and a welcoming energy, they support formal functions like Student Orientation and Open House, where they are equipped to showcase the best of the school’s culture and standards. Their current focus remains on making new students feel even more supported and finding more ways to represent the school with pride.
HONOR COUNCIL

The Honor Council represents the heart of the school. Its members are nominated by both students and faculty and are chosen based on their character, academic standing, and commitment to the school’s values.
Serving as role models, they maintain high standards of integrity and behavior within the student body. The council acts as a source of internal inspiration, encouraging students to live by the right character and to represent the school through its core values. One of their projects, “Ask the Council,” created a platform for students to voice their concerns anonymously, helping them speak up about matters that should be addressed within the community. Ultimately, the Honor Council leads with compassion and inspires others to live a life of excellence as well.
ONE TEAM

The Leadership Council is made up of students with different strengths, yet they are united by a single purpose. While each council has a specific focus, they support one another as one team. As the student leaders shared, their mission is “to create a more unified and honorable community.” As global learners and leaders, our secondary students uphold the highest standards of honoring themselves, honoring others, and honoring the school.
