Position Objective

The Instructional Assistant plays an important role in assisting the school to achieve its mission, vision, and core values. The TA works closely with classroom teachers and teacher leaders, including division principals to positively impact student learning and development.

Responsibilities

Instructional Support:

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to discuss and coordinate instructional efforts.
• Prepare and organize lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations.

Classroom Assistance:

• Present subject matter to students as directed by teachers.
• Engage and assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts and help them master learning tasks.

Student Supervision:

• Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, halls, canteen, school playground, field, and during field trips.
• Support students in the various spaces for PE, visual arts, and performing arts.
• Enforce policies and rules guiding student behavior.

Administrative Tasks:

• Distribute teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils.
• Distribute and collect tests and homework assignments.
• Organize and label materials, and display students’ work.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, admin, and others.

Additional Support:

• Provide assistance to students with special needs, including ELL students or those in Learning Support.
• Assist in the canteen during breaks/ lunchtime and after-school pick-up.
• Assist in After school/club duties
• Assist and support school events and student preparation for these events.
• Support winter and summer camps as required.

Qualifications

• High Vocational Diploma or a Bachelor’s Degree
• High level of English Language Proficiency
• Minimum of 2 years experience in Education or Child Care environment preferred.
