Student Spotlight: Sut Seng Htun

A New Beginning in Thailand

Sut Seng Htun is a scholarship student who recently joined D-PREP International School as a Grade 10 student. Moving to a new country and school can be intimidating, but Sut Seng found the transition surprisingly smooth. “The different language and culture were easy for me to adapt to,” he shared, reflecting on his upbringing in Yangon, Myanmar, where he attended an international school.

First Impressions and a Welcoming Community

Sut Seng was initially impressed by the architecture of D-PREP’s campus, noting its modern design and innovative use of space. However, what stood out even more was the warm and inclusive atmosphere. “They make me feel like family, which is important to me as someone new to Thailand,” Sut Seng said. This sense of belonging has only grown stronger since his first days at the school. Whether he needs help with schoolwork or simply a place to sit during lunch, Sut Seng has found the school to be supportive and welcoming across all grades.

A New Love for Math

Sut Seng has developed a surprising fondness for his algebra classes, thanks to his teacher, Mr. Ben. Despite once disliking math, Sut Seng now finds the lessons engaging and enjoyable. “Mr. Ben is very good at teaching. He mixes education with fun, and it’s made all the difference for me,” he shares. This positive experience reflects the broader teaching approach at D-PREP, where educators excel in their fields and genuinely understand the students’ perspectives. “They make learning not just effective but enjoyable,” Sut Seng added enthusiastically.

Love for Sports and Creativity

At D-PREP, Sut Seng is actively involved in sports, having joined the basketball, badminton, and volleyball teams. He also speaks highly of the school’s facilities, from the well-equipped gym to the E-Sports room, which he finds impressive despite not being a gamer himself. “Most schools don’t see E-Sports as a curriculum, but here at D-PREP, it’s integrated. It supports students’ dreams,” Sut Seng explains.

The Grade 10 student is also passionate about creative pursuits and hopes to establish a fashion club. Inspired by a similar initiative at his previous school, Sut Seng envisions a place where students can design clothes for a fashion show and raise money for charity.  When asked about his plans for the future, Sut Seng believes that D-PREP is the right place to help him with his goals. “I want to excel academically and get into a good university, maybe in the US. I believe D-PREP gives me everything I need to flourish and prepare for my future aspirations.”

Love for Thailand

Outside of school, Sut Seng enjoys exploring Bangkok, particularly its malls and ice-skating rinks. He’s also captivated by Thailand’s culture and people. “Everyone is so kind here. They are always so welcoming with a smile,” he shares. Sut Seng also noted the brilliance of the architecture he’s seen in Thailand, recalling the first time he saw the temples and how captivated he was by their majestic beauty.

Sut Seng Htun’s journey at D-PREP has just begun, but he’s already making the most of every opportunity, supported by a community that values both his personal and academic growth. We are proud to have you with us, Sut Seng. Welcome to D-PREP!
